David Johnston

David Johnston has been active in Bitcoin and blockchain since 2012. In 2013, he spoke at the first Bitcoin Summit in San Jose and co-founded BitAngels, the world’s largest angel network for blockchain investment. The following year, he authored The General Theory of Decentralized Applications and, as an early investor in Mastercoin (now Omni Protocol), served as chairman of the board and facilitated the first ICO.

In 2015, he co-founded Dapps Fund, the first all-token fund, which invested in projects such as Ethereum, Maidsafe, and Factom. After closing the fund in 2016, he launched Yeoman’s Capital, a family office that invests exclusively in open-source, permissionless technologies.

By 2020, he expanded into Bitcoin mining and co-founded DLT ASA with James Haft. Today, he focuses on building open-source AI agents trained on smart contracts.
